So I'm finally trying out Ghostty now that I know there's an AppImage for it (I can't compile it on Slackware 15.0, only Slackware-current). Normally I use Terminology. Unicode rendering isn't too big of a deal for me personally.
So far Ghostty has been pretty nice. It's a tiny bit faster than Terminology, and sometimes uses between just a bit more memory (about 10-30mb). Other times it uses about the same amount. Some of the nice eye candy is lacking, and I don't really like how I have to hold Ctrl to get links/paths to be clickable, but it's all minor. I did have to customize it quite a bit out-of-the-box just to have a nice experience, however. The defaults are very much antagonistic to what I prefer in a terminal
But one thing I'm more weary on is the font rendering. I just can't get it to match Terminology, even after tinkering with all the different settings, and it's a little more unpleasant to read. But I've gotten it close, at least.
I also have to use Sawfish's Window Rules settings to force its startup size, 'cause setting window-width and window-height doesn't work right for me.
We'll see if I end up going back to Terminology.
