I've spent years struggling with awkward build systems and packages that cannot be ported between different operating systems and I've even been forced to use goddamn cmake and I am absolutely not going back to that. The fact that some people have no ability to restrain themselves from adding third party dependencies to their projects does not mean that the ability to easily create and add portable dependencies is somehow bad!
