Some foreign media use the expression "short-lived imposition of martial law" when referring to the recent impeachment of the Korean president. I firmly believe that "short-lived" is an inappropriate term in this context. The duration of martial law—whether short or long—does not matter. What matters is that we do not accept the imposition of martial law in a peaceful, everyday society, especially when it is used for political purposes or to deploy military forces against civilians.
