새는 두 날개 중 하나가 없으면 날지 못하지만, 최신 여객기는 두 엔진 중 하나를 버려도 상당 거리 비행에 지장이 없도록 설계됩니다. 우익 2번 엔진에 불이 났으면 꺼 버리고 비행하는 것이 안전합니다. 영원히 그렇게 날 수는 없지만, 당장은 엔진이 폭발하면서 기체 전체를 불태우지는 못하게 해야 하거든요.
