대만은 전날 총 5000억 달러(약 736조 원) 규모의 대미(對美) 투자·보증 패키지를 내걸고 미국으로부터 반도체 품목 관세 면제를 약속받았다. 같은 날 하워드 러트닉 미국 상무장관은 CNBC와의 인터뷰에서 “우리 목표는 대만 전체 반도체 공급망과 생산의 40%를 미국 국내로 가져오는 것”이라며 “만약 그들이 미국에 짓지 않으면 반도체 관세는 아마 100%가 될 것”이라고 했다.
