My new year's resolution for 2026: help communities make the change towards digital autonomy, digital interdependence and sovereignty.

Steps: 0) mobilise awareness for the already existing and working alternatives, 1) identify shared needs for improvement and willingness to change, 2) pool collective capacities, 3) co-fund and develop the missing pieces, 4) mutual learning, 5) make the change together, and 6) celebrate each step and enjoy the collective process!

Together we are doing it!

ok, cool - just don't want to wait until tomorrow. also my Oceania people are only 4 hours away :)

Let's start 1-3 right now …

1) needs the fundamental shift which I described in my Public Spaces Talk.
Away from a monopoly-Server-to-Server fedi ecosystem with own Client APIs.
Towards an inclusive, interoperable Client-to-Server fediverse.
It means:
- User chooses 1 server
- User can use it with clients anywhere
- User has anything under control
- E2E encryption is also coming
It also means:
- Being conformant; we overstressed the term "the entirety";
w3.org/TR/activitypub/#conform
also means the Vocubalry incl. `Place`, `Event`, `Offer`, `Question` and all the nice things which ActivityPub brings and helps users to organize life but are not used interoperable yet cause above.
- Client can consume and federate all the Linked Data things like wikidata/wikipedia/wikibase [common facts and knowledge of the world], OSM [places of the world] and so much more !!! (!)
