I note that in upcoming EU Horizon funding there's more focus on the process and integrated supply chains.

But it does imho not really extend to the real commons, the people's commons. It is OSS focused, not really including FOSS grassroots environments. And with that it misses an important part of development landscape where a lot of innovation happens.

FOSS has the world improvers, while OSS is just a business strategy. OSS is "more of the same" biz as usual.

In the panel discussion that just ended some of these points were specifically mentioned. That a big gap exists. Especially Michiel Leenaars of @nlnet addressed the human factor to applause of the audience.

The "commons" we speak about on the fediverse involves people who cocreate together.

The "digital commons" I see in EU Horizons refers to goods. It's a business-driven OSS-based goods market.

The people commons is vital for change. Real innovation.
