after 25 years of a career of trying and mostly failing to make the world a better place with software it is truly soul-wrenchingly exhausting to watch a substantial plurality of the entire software industry decide that actually, it is more lucrative and easier to make the world worse instead

@glyph Software engineers are more like musicians than either group is willing to admit. Everyone can agree that music is wonderful and worth making but the music industry is terrible.

I've decided that technology (at least in my life) is a creative endeavor that is allowed to be at odds with the environment in which it's created.
