Many here will remember the Kamala Harris donation drive last year, leading up to the US presidential election. People contributing to it were criticized for ignoring other causes, like mutual aid requests.
It was hard to prove it at the time, but seeing 
@aralAral Balkan's Gaza Verified fundraiser reach its $15k goal in only about 8 hours, I think this confirms that people here do care. But also, a simple solution to a problem usually wins.
