But these sort of replies get tedious to deal with pretty quickly. And really demotivate people to even try do to the little good that they do.

Yeah, you could argue that Mastodon/fediverse were too complicated, too user-unfriendly, and you're right, some people have left for those reasons.

But when I look at some of the conversations on Bluesky, I see as about as many people complain about that as there are complaints about Bluesky not letting you edit your posts, or create private accounts.

It's a lot more common to see people complain about the scoldy, self-righteous replies people would get here. Just non-stop friendly fire.
