Animations can make the interface feel predictable and faster, but also when done wrong, they do the opposite: make it feel slow, unpredictable, annoying. Emil Kowalski gives a couple of tips on how to strike the right balance. Skip animations if user does this frequently. Keep animations fast (<300ms) and responsive. Sometimes, the best UI move is no animation at all.
