How did I see this? Open a gmail account to which an outlook account has been connected. Click the gear. Click "See all settings." Click "Accounts and Import." At the "Check mail from other accounts" item, click "edit info" for the outlook.com account. Then it popped open a new window with this on a page and had me complete a Microsoft Authenticator challenge.

All I wanted to know is if the outlook account was using pop or imap and the info didn't tell me anything.
