I thought the Road Printer was a modern invention, but @beeldengeluidBeeld & Geluid just posted video of the "automatische stratenmaken" from 1963 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tHXTy0T2yg

a team of people placing bricks on a tracked machine that has a smooth slope to lower the assembled road surface onto the ground. the workers can stand comfortably instead of having to kneel to place the bricks.
