Yes, everything is performative. But at what point does performance become predatory? We have this conversation about performative heterosexual males quoting bell hooks etc to seem "safe" to women while actually being quite harmful and i think it's important right now to also think about the specific harms caused when it comes to performative white allyship.
Performative DEI in the workplace alienated conscious Black ppl bc we saw straight thru the bs which in turn made us threatening

Pelosi 'nem kneeled in kufis. Black ppl said "stop killing us." BLM crosswalks. "Stop killing us." Banned blackface episodes, toppled statues, etc, all this cosmetic shit that did not do much else but ease white people's guilt without them having to grapple with real issues like wealth inequity, overfunded police, toxic workplaces, etc.
I'm saying nothing new but Ig my key point is if y'all elect Newsom bc he posted himself reading Beloved I will be disappointed but not surprised
