HTTP has a new method: QUERY. Tl;dr: GET with a body.

(Doesn’t have an RFC number yet but has been approved, will get one in a few weeks.)

If you have a fediverse account, you can quote this note from your own instance. Search https://cosocial.ca/users/timbray/statuses/115584190402652143 on your instance and quote it. (Note that quoting is not supported in Mastodon.)

Oh nice! This is probably the biggest change to the core message format of #HTTP since HTTP/1.1 was released in 1997!
This new QUERY method would've been really useful for designing better REST APIs that otherwise relied on POST requests too much.
Also I wonder how many web browsers, servers, and middlemen devices already support this?
Lastly, the #Wikipedia article needs to be updated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP
