CXMT는 2016년 중국 반도체산업의 수도로 불리는 안후이성 허페이시에 설립됐다. 중국명 창신메모리테크놀로지. 한자인 ‘창(長)’은 ‘길다’ ‘장기적이다’라는 뜻으로 지속적인 투자와 장기 성장을 의미한다. ‘신(鑫)’은 ‘금(金)’ 세 개가 겹친 글자로 막대한 자본, 재정 축적을 상징한다. 국가 중심의 장기적인 투자로 메모리 굴기를 실현하겠다는 시진핑 중국 국가 주석의 의지가 담긴 셈이다.
