in my quest for a lightweight markup language i found gingerbill.org/article/2026/01 which argues that everything is either sgml or tex. looking at the example, i think i might actually want to consider a tex derivative instead of an sgml derivative... but not latex, because i don't want to do typesetting, i want semantics. if the main thing is delineation of nodes by {} instead of <></> then that gets closer to the heart of what i need i guess
