If a person wrote it, I can make changes to the code since it is generally human-readable.

If an AI generates the code, none of the internals have to make any sense to a human mind, and typically it's very hard to make changes, so it's easier to iterate - just keep on generating variations until it seems to follow requirements. That code is one-time-use garbage.
