today i learned about the Wurth SKEDD connector family. pretty odd looking, but clever!

an IDC connector, pretty standard 0.1", but the male pins sticking out of the bottom are staggered and each one is split into two separate halves, one straight and the other a hook shape. presumably the tip of the hook guides it into the PCB pad and provides some spring compression to maintain good contact. there are also two plastic alignment pegs.

a pcb with a footprint for a SKEDD connector. it has 6 holes, 2 of them non-plated for the alignment pegs and 4 plated for the electrical connections.
