In Japan, ramen shops have a reputation for being male-coded as they're often dingy, cramped, & full of dudes. Kamiza seeks to change that with its Akasaka store by setting out "amenities" for women (like mirrors) & sporting a mostly female staff during daytime hours.
Changes include fragrance spray and hand cream in the bathrooms and smaller "half-and-half" sets of food. From 11am to 6pm, the store will have a female manager and 80% female staff.
