Just wrote about Sam Altman's attempt to corner the RAM market, and apparently also the machines to manufacture it.
Put in context of 19th and 20th century oligarchs manipulating markets to extract economic rents, it all kind of makes sense.
A very, very *bad* sort of sense.

In the Gilded Age of the late 19th century in the US, the über-wealthy had a tendency to corner markets in commodities, to extract higher prices for themselves. Surely we’re not doing that any more are we? … Surely?
