housecats are fully capable of understanding that their claws hurt you, and equally capable of being as careful as their bodies allow (which is _very_). but somebody has to teach them

 @angelmartin7310  They aren't domesticated yet, they can be tamed like these we see, but they take special handling because they are still dangerous. I got a chance to pet some cubs once, one 4 months old and the other was 7 months old. They are amazingly powerful animals. The 7 months old came up behind my boyfriend, 6'  and very muscular. It wanted to play, grabbed him by the back of the neck and shoulders. He instinctively flipped the cat and punched him as the handlers had said. The cougar just looked at him like, oh, did I upset you? Sorry. And it bounded off.
