I feel like this article is really worth reading. It is not only about "them" (Twitter) but it is inevitably also about "us".

The music video clip culture of the 1980s and 1990s, which was somehow already predicted by the art scenes of 1960s, became somehow mainstream way of perceiving media reality. Except now we don't get 15 minutes of fame, like in popart, but rather 15 seconds of fame...

I always had hard time to focus for more then 15 minutes, so I was naturally attracted to social media as a platform, which does not require long term focus. But it is one thing to prefer certain media format... and another thing to form completely different worldview, based on this inability to focus.

I was early adopter of lot of things, discussion forums and social media addiction being definitely one of them. While we were thinking, that we are promoting our own point of view and values, we might have been actually influenced much more, even if we do not feel so.
