Checkmate. The ASPI reports that the US manufacturing gap with China is structurally insurmountable. Even in the most optimistic US growth scenario and a severely slowed China, Chinese manufacturing would still be larger in 20 years!

By the more telling metric of purchasing power, China's manufacturing base is already over triple the size of America's. The idea of catching up is pure fantasy.
