@cksChris Siebenmann Re utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/bl β€” I am also rather ignorant of Python tools, but have tried uv (docs.astral.sh/uv/) many many months ago and was immediately hooked for working with Django projects. It’s much faster and seems as reliable as venv itself.

I think the only issue I ever encountered was when a very old Python project was not yet on pyproject.toml. Fixing that was straight-forward after Googling the issue.

I recommend giving uv a try, you might like it :)
