Just had one of those “I guess I’ll stay up for 3 hours furiously running numbers about how soon I can retire from this damn industry” because I genuinely don’t know how long my brain and body are going to function well enough to keep going as a full time worker 🫩

The good news is the number I have now after budget shuffling is kinda ok. The bad news is it’s bigger than “2 years” lol

I genuinely don’t see myself leaving tech altogether. I do actually “love what I do” as far as the skillsets and general shape of things.

But between the toxicity of VC-led tech (and its gross af stuff like genAI/blockchain), the layoff shit, and my declining mh stuff, idk how to do this full time

Definitely not for another nearly 30 years.

I don’t think I can last another decade.

I’m not sure I can last even a year or two but I don’t think I have much of a choice there.

And like, I LOVE my current job, too!
