Sigh. The project that I had slated for holiday break is a bust.
I have:
- two MacBooks that don't play well with KVM switches
- an LG monitor with both DisplayPort and USB-C DP-Alt ports, along with an RS232 port.
I picked up a USB switch and assorted electronic stuff to build my own little KVM that would flip the USB switch with a GPIO and the monitor with a serial signal.
Problem is, the serial port on the monitor is apparently disabled, and the USB switch doesn't play well with my work MacBook. :(
I guess I'll keep flopping the thunderbolt cable back and forth like a caveman for the foreseeable future.
