I've been seeing this quote being bandied about by many folks, plenty of whom seem to be using it to accuse citizens living under oppressive regimes (not necessarily just in the US) for "not doing enough".
Some of us are risking our lives just by existing.
Some of us don't have the money or time to contribute to a movement, resistance, or rebellion.
Some of us can't afford to strike.
Some of us can't afford to boycott.
Some of us are more performative than others.
Just because your perception of someone suggests that they're "not doing anything" or "not doing enough" doesn't mean that it's true.
That goes both ways, too. Just because someone looks like they're doing a lot, doesn't mean they actually are.
