XMPP superseded fundamental RFCs (client to server RFC and server to server RFC). XMPP has at least three different/competing XEP for end to end encrypted messages. XMPP has at least two competing XEP for file transfer. XMPP has competing XEP for audio/video "calls". Have fun building compatible clients, servers and ecosystems.
If the initial Matrix devs are clever they learned from the XMPP problems.

Seems like I've been blocked by some people because I've been posting corrections to posts made about Proton Mail:
I've moved away from Proton because of the posts of their CEO and no longer will give them any money and I've set up a solution for myself that makes me able to quickly move mail providers if need be.
I posted those corrections because I live in Switzerland, work for the Swiss Government, and am interested in Swiss laws and treaties with other countries, not to advertise for Proton

So, one of the fun parts of moving abroad is that you have to do everything by email. I emailed a place a week ago and by default thought that they hated me when they didn’t reply. It was wrecking me. I finally spent the $20 to call them and …. their mail server was broken.
