What's to stop Musk, who's already tried meddling with German elections, from seizing Zelenskyy's, or any other European leader's X account, and posting something with dire geopolitical consequences? We're way past the point where it's wise for European leaders and institutions to rely on a presence on X—and other US platforms are not a good long-term solution either. More should follow the example of the @EUCommissionEuropean Commission and provide their updates directly, without middlemen, through the fediverse.

i ❤️ Java. every day i wake up and head over to my JavaStation where i load up JavaOS and open my HotJava web browser where i post to all of my favorite Java forums. afterwards i head to work where i boot up my Java Workstation running the Java Desktop System to continue to write more Java. i have over 30 plushies and figurines of my savior Duke and my collection is continuing to grow

Nachdem ich seit einigen Jahren auf den (und selbstverständlich auch auf die Blechdose) verzichte und ich daher bei allen Bedingungen muss, zum Abschluss der Saison hier mal meine bisherigen Erkenntnisse: Handschuhe und Ohrenschutz sind mit Abstand das Wichtigste, direkt danach kommt winddichte Oberbekleidung.

Insgesamt besteht meine Winterausrüstung aus:
1. Handschuhe verschiedener Stärken (je nach Temperatur)
2. zum Abdichten des Kragens
3. Schlauchtuch für Hals, Ohren und Gesicht
4. Brille gegen den kalten Fahrtwind
5. Thermoshirt
6. Winddichte Jacke (war von Aldi, ist nur wenige Millimeter dick)
7. Trägerhose, evtl. zwei übereinander
8. Fahrrad-Winterschuhe sind ihr Geld wert und funktionieren besser als Überzieher.
9. Helm

Außerdem: Ein zweiter Laufradsatz mit . Während der MIV Unfälle wegen baut, radelt man selbst einfach dran vorbei. Der zweite Satz deshalb, weil man dann kurz vor der Fahrt die passenden Reifen montieren kann, sodass man nicht den ganzen Winter mit dem erhöhten Widerstand und Geräusch fahren muss.

Gerade das Potenzial eines abgedichteten Kragens habe ich die letzten Jahre unterschätzt. Ich bin deshalb diesen Winter mit mindestens einer Lage weniger gefahren als sonst. Die Kombination Thermoshirt plus Jacke war jetzt meistens bis -2 Grad ausreichend, teilweise sogar bis -6 Grad. Darunter bin ich auf eine dickere Jacke und Weste ausgewichen.

Außerdem hatte ich meistens Regenklamotten und eine Weste dabei, auch wenn ich die in der Regel nicht genutzt habe, da ich mit Regenkleidung oft innen nasser als außen werde. Die Brille empfiehlt sich eigentlich immer, außer bei Starkregen.

Today would be a good day to donate to . There is an official government website that allows you to donate to one of several funds including defense, reconstruction, medical, and de-mining.

I have a standing $25/month donation to their medical fund and periodically drop more money in on one of the other funds if there aren't boots on the ground kind of fundraisers that I'm backing at the time.

As I don't have the time and attention lately to feel confident in donating to the front line fundraisers, I donate through the Ukraine government's donation site:

30秒の広告を見れば、60分無料でデータ通信できる（界隈で盛り上がっている）eSIM、試してみたけどほんとに最低限の通信ならなんとかできる…かも？って感じ​:thinking_cat:​
個人的な感想はこんな感じ。

■メリット
・Googleアカウントか電話番号だけで数分でeSIMが発行できる
・維持費がかからない
・30秒の広告を見たら60分無制限に通信できるプランがある（低速）
・海外でもそのまま使える（らしい）
・全キャリア（ドコモ・au・ソフトバンク・楽天モバイル）のうち、最適なものにつながる
・お金を払えば結構早いらしい（値段は安め）

■デメリット
・無料で使えるプランは200kbpsぐらいしかでない（バースト転送があるので、思ってるよりは使える）
・日本国内でも国際ローミングなので、使えないサービスが出る可能性がある（シンガポール経由？だった）
・↑と同じ理由で海外を一度通るので通信の遅延が大きめ（200-300msぐらい？）
・サービスの継続性…あるかな？

■総評
サービスがいつまで続けられるのかわからないけど、続けられるのであればサブ回線として入れておいても良いかも？
キャリアの通信障害発生時や、今いる場所でほとんど通信できないような状況に出くわしたときに救われることがあるかもしれません
あと海外によく行く人も、選択肢に入れても良いかもしれません

After the devastating Dutch elections [‘23-11-22] I decided to dedicate my toots back to the original goal.
I care about a lot of issues, most global some national; but I won't be 'tooting' about them all.

First and formost I WANT to 'toot' about:

Because I trust that most people reading know about the dreadfull future of climate change, I want to spread the, possible, solutions to a problem rather than reiterate on the problem.

One of those solution might be sueing the polluters or governments on human rights, violations or

Action is by all means a solution.

As said I want to focus on the global issue. I don't want to nitpick on too much principles. Like: "What's worse: eating cows or driving diesel?" Both are devastating behaviors of intitled rich people!
On the otherhand therefore I truly respect ANY effort to make a change for the better.

Most of all... I want to add instead of preach. Bring some bits of the puzzle to the table.

I'm NOT a scientist of any kind. I'm just a disabled old white guy typing on a desk reading and searching a lot.

I tend to toot 10-15 toots at 13:00* that I boost again unchanged at 20:00* the same day, but that's NOT a promise. [*=my [Amstedam] time]

I might be interested in: #2030 / and more.
But after a year or two there appear to be 4 general topics: / and

I tend to follow anyone who 'retoots' or 'favourites' my toots. Forget it, I'm vain.

"online video" instead of "YouTube video".

"online search" instead of "Google Search" (or "do a search" instead of "google it".)

"music playlist" instead of "Spotify playlist".

Do not give these company any free advertising by using their names.

Do not make them the default term for something.

So, You Wanna Do A Solar? [Thread]
-A brief guided tour through my setup..

This system is not what I currently run, but it's a nice, straightforward solar panel system you can use for camping and emergencies.

Here, we have two 12w 100w Renogy panels, you can find these for roughly $100 each.
These have been wired in parallel, showing the adapting plug. System remains at 12v, with higher amperage.

The leads will head off to the charge controller, featured on the next post.
