The downside of our project approach was that we often got experts being very dismissive on re-using email and ... and there still is some opposition which often subsides when actually trying and , looking at security audits and our strong usable security focus.

There may also be surprising upsides. The UK "Online Safety Bill" which attacks end-to-end encryption integrity seems to not apply for ... e-mail. Because everyone knows, e-mail is unencrypted, right? :)

Due to Mozilla's seemingly never ending shitfuckery since the days of the looking-glass "experiment" I am strongly considering a move away from Firefox/Thunderbird

I only use firefox as an occasional browser and will simply use librewolf and brave browser more, however Thunderbird does not have any clear replacement

Opinions as to how Vivaldi Mail stacks up against Thunderbird and other email clients are welcomed

Y'all, I have to share my husband's work drama.

So, 3 days ago Josh (hubs) gets a request for help with a scanner/printer/fax setup. The person is a supervisor who has to upload some paperwork for new employees, so they wanted to use the scanner to scan it in, but it's not working. Now this just happens to be one of those weird coincidences where to two people in this office who would usually take care of this are out of office, so Josh says, NO worries, here's an app everyone else uses, you download it on your phone, take pictures and then it automatically uploads. The supervisor refuses to download the app, insisting that they have a scanner and they want to use that. Josh goes on to spend about 6 hours over several days troubleshooting this and basically comes to the conclusion that either the company that sold them the printer/scanner combo has some sort of override code only they know, and you can only get if you have their very expensive maintenance plan or it's just simply out of date with the current technology, and will probably never work. He lets them know this, and suggests a couple work around. The next day his boss asks, What is this about the scanner, they are complaining you didn't fix the issue. He explains and the boss says, Okay, you're probably right, but I'll take a look. The boss spends several hours, and comes to the same conclusions as Josh. This morning they both end up in a Slack group with the equipment allocation person and another supervisor talking about this damn printer, asking why no one is fixing this problem. They explain, but now these other two people think they also need to take a crack at this problem. So, it's been 4 days, and 4 well paid professionals have spent probably 12 hours collectively on a non-problem, because someone doesn't want to download an app. I asked Josh how much money they've spent in work hours, and he said he was afraid to calculate it.

heyyy, it's bandcamp friday!

i just re-released the final batch of old music on my new bandcamp page, so it is now up to date with everything i've done so far :btr_bocchi_guitar:

"girls rock" is the sounds of a lonely android girl, as she floats around the moons and planets of an uninhabited star system, creating psychedelic bops and astral jams with the friends that live in her head :sparkles_trans: 🚀 🌌

also, to celebrate re-releasing everything i've put my entire catalog on sale for almost nothing if you like this sort of thing

thanks for listening!

'캐릭터'는 원래 어원은 독특한 개성 같은 거였는데 정작 오타쿠 문화의 'キャラ'(캬라)는 '바보캐릭터'같이 흔한 속성을 가리키는 몰개성적 표현이 되었다는 걸 언제나 재미있게 생각하고 있어요.

Appropriate quote from an wise, humorously mystical friend from Santa Cruz, well-known for writing horoscopes in US alternative weeklies... who gifted me a passion for pronoia.

"*If I'm going to be one of the influences you invite into the intimate sanctuary where you nurse your self-fulfilling prophecies, I really want to be gentle with you. That's why I avoid invoking worry and doubt, and instead nudge you in the direction of passion, integrity, happiness, and generosity."*

Current setup and favs! I'm a big fan of Japanese stationery if you can't tell by...basically all of it being Japanese.

Top left: A6 monthly calendar from Daiso. Cheap and exactly what I wanted.
Top right: cheapy personal/bible-size binder with DIY pocket made from plastic packaging and washi tape 😂 paper is A6 not personal, there's a whole story there..been using it for significant dates & long term reference, and tracking my water intake since I recently found out I've been dehydrated for years 😳
Bottom: Hobonichi A6 notebook cover in water candle (it's blue on the outside) with an Apica as a commonplace book and a Hobonichi grid notebook with cute cats on it as my diary/journal.
Pens etc: Platinum Preppy (baby's first fountain pen), Uni Jetstream multi pen, Sharpie S-Note markers (big fan of these but they may have phased them out?), Zig dot markers (great for commonplace color coding!) andddd Kodomo no Kao fruit-shaped stamps, for habit tracking on my calendar.

Super happy with this combo atm, I've iterated and experimented a lot over the years and my needs definitely change over time. Anybody use any of these? Have questions about them? Let's chat stationery!! ✒️✏️

Thank you for all your great feedback to my article about . I plan to use it extensively for the next 2 weeks to write a follow-up post... and bring you interviews with PeerTube creators.

If you have any tips about how to improve the experience on mobile, I'm all ears! (Aside from using it in my mobile browser, that is).

The fediverse is an ecosystem where you - not some incellionaire obsessed with eugenics - own your digital identity.

Where your social graph belongs to you, not an algorithm’s shifting fucking whims.

Where moving from one service to another doesn’t mean losing everything you’ve built and everything you’ve ever said.
