Watching the Revision live stream

Someone (I don't remember who) had suggested I do some Blender things at Revision and I said I didn't know that I could make it out to Germany but in retrospect I absolutely could have and kinda wish I did

I mean I do love tracker music and computer graphics, I hope to make it to Revision some day for sure

I would call your attention to a significant sequence of events.

1. Trump attacks Harvard.
2. Harvard refuses to fold.
3. Universities around the country start to form a mutual defense pact against Trump.
4. Trump now says that letter to Harvard was never supposed to be sent.

What it does show is that Trump, like bullies everywhere, folds when he faces firm opposition. So we need to put firm opposition in his face at every opportunity.

A Windows user, a Mac user, and a Linux user are given a complex task to complete on their system.

The Windows user downloads a new software package.

The Mac user finds an app in the App Store.

The Linux user spends three hours writing a bash script to automate it, then brags about how much time they saved.

It's safe to say that I will forever be in the minority of Mac users who use and actually rely on text navigation and selection shortcuts such as ⌥→, ⌥←, ⌥⇧→, ⌥⇧←, etc.

This means that I will forever be a victim of software engineers who cater to the needs of the majority, and neglect to make sure that their choices don’t interfere with the use of these shortcuts.

Case in point : it’s impossible to rely on these shortcuts in tables in Apple’s Numbers and Pages apps.🤬

@mcc because "simple" is not an objective measure, it's a diff against the experiences expectations and intuitions of a human mind, of many human minds, which are minefields of complexity. the most aggressively simple programming language is known, it's SUBLEQ, but it's completely unusable by humans.

In case anyone was wondering about my health situation -

I am taking Metformin now, and it seems to be going well. Some mild stomach upset occasionally but nothing terrible.

What really is *massive* for me: my weight isn't steadily ticking upwards like it always did. I am now wearing a Fitbit so there may be some behaviour change, but nothing purposeful. I'm using it to collect data, rather than as a goal setting or training guide.

I finally feel like I have some control over my body again 💪🥰

in other news, today I learned that crows can correctly nest and close brackets/parentheses, which is going to make me feel just great the next time I'm banging my head against the wall over a script that doesn't work only to find out I forgot to close one (1) bracket
