Anyway, genuine question: I'm considering taking the laptop I'm reviewing with me to an unused trainyard with some derelict-but-still-usable cargo train cars, so I can make photos for the review that look a bit more interesting than our coffee tables and couches.

Is that a thing I should do? Does anyone even care?

macOS's tty impl (in the kernel) has a 1024 byte internal buffer limit for cooked mode. After that, writes succeed but the data is silently dropped. iTerm2 works around this by sleeping ~16ms between writes. My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.

Meanwhile, in news unrelated to anything in particular, nectarines and peaches and to a lesser extent, apricots are now the newest seasonal fruits grown locally in California that I am starting to see in markets!

Don't get me wrong, some mulberries had a very strong showing at a local farmer's market in Oakland a couple of Saturdays ago.

Yet I cannot overstate how delicious nectarines are to me, personally. Peaches are good too, sweet and juicy, but nectarines have none of that peach fuzz mouth feel to get in the way!

Apricots are a'ight I suppose, but given they seem to dry relatively well, less imperative than having fresh peaches and nectarines!

Nectarine season doesn't last long and while apples tend to be yummy in late summer and fall, and we have had a pretty varied citrus winter with some good eats, this is probably my favorite time of year given the availability of specific fresh fruits.

I can't wait for five years from now when there's a massive security incident and the retro boils down to "oh yeah remember that period where our industry thought 'just not caring if your code was correct' was the next big thing?" and we all just sit in embarrassed silence as we try not to think about what that means for our current security and reliability postures.

You don't need to use weird spellings or algospeak for any topics on the Fediverse ("unalived", "seggs" etc). There is no automated moderation or algorithm on here, moderation happens entirely through human beings and posts are shown in chronological order.

In fact it's better that you use the correct spellings for difficult topics so that people with genuine traumas related to them can filter them more easily.

The fact that payment processors have been going after places like DLsite make me wonder how long Itch has before it gets weird.

Honestly it should be illegal for payment processors to deny transactions just because they feel like it. There's no legal obligation, and even the excuses people make about chargebacks doesn't seem to be the case.

This FT investigation went into it and chargebacks never came up. It basically just came down to "keeping up their image"
