Two DJs played a 24-hour set in an unfinished arts centre in Kampala — not for clout, but to help build it. Locals danced, kids joined in, and their livestreamed gig raised money to get the job done. As DJ Kampire puts it, "The only antidote to despair is to do something." continent.substack.com/p/a-24-

After you compiled and installed a new version of FreeBSD, use etcupdate(8) to merge
configuration updates.
Run "etcupdate extract" once when your sources match your running system, then run
"etcupdate" after every upgrade and "etcupdate resolve" to resolve any conflicts.

if you're at , @toluTolulope Oshinowo and I are facilitating a session on the politics of protocols and designing with power in mind in about 5 minutes! we want to talk about our recent pre-print (arxiv.org/pdf/2505.22962v1) but it's mostly free-form, open discussion related to the topic

correction: i have been calling ai tooling "per request billing for editing text files"

after some research i have realised the billing model is slightly different

given that you have to make a few pulls to get something that compiles, it's closer to a gatcha game

or loot boxes, but with way lower payout rates
