has just ended. It was quite different from previous years. The addition of keynote speakers was exciting, and I think garnered a bigger crowd.

The un-conference portions take some getting used to for newbies but all were welcome into the discussion, regardless of expertise in the topic.

After attending 3 or 4 other FediForums I finally gathered up enough courage to turn my microphone on for a few minutes and form some type of meaning. 😅

I've collected stores that sell fediverse related merchandise into an

These stores often provide some funding back to the platforms, instances, etc. that run them - those are identified as such (it's most of them!)

If there's any I missed, please let me know.

I'm already thinking bigger, so this will probably include platform and developer funds as well (no merch).

Future plans: RSS, JSON, API for this data.

Just spent the last 3 mornings attending , an unoference to help the Open Social Web move forward.

With 3 inspiring keynotes and 8 attendee-led sessions, this was the largest event so far. I'm glad I let @j12tJohannes Ernst talk me into co-organizing.

I'm going to go outside and touch grass for the afternoon while I think about the ideas and joy that came forth in the sessions.

Had a really great Day 3 of @FediForum. I was able to attend some great sessions, including identity in the fediverse and data & account portability. I was able to talk about Hubzilla, Streams, Forte, and Mitra which have implemented various technologies, such as nomadic identity (which includes account & data portability). I was even able to do a quick overview and demo in a session.

And there is a lot of work being done in ActivityPub and various platforms to try to make these concepts the norm rather than the exception. There are a lot of opportunities for collaboration and interoperability. I am excited to see the fediverse move in this direction.

Have been messing around with on .. it doesn't seem to run a certain game. I noticed its launcher is patching a .DLL in memory and it looks like FreeBSD doesn't allow this (which is probably a great security feature) but it's breaks the game. Any ideas on how to fix?

I wish there was a place with an explanation of all the knobs and dials in FreeBSD's sysctl, loader.conf etc

Question for blind people, and people with low vision who need a big magnifier: did anyone ever try read-aloud video magnifier, to read a paper book? I'm trying to understand if this tool (a camera, a screen to zoom, and an OCR with text to speech) is useful, or a marketing gimmick.

And it's a wrap for another brilliant edition of . I'm coming away super energized and filled with hope for the open social web.

Thank you @j12tJohannes Ernst and @anca for putting this together... and to everyone who participated. There were so many superb insights and action plans.

Special mention to @ozoned whose enthusiasm for the Fediverse is absolutely contagious. Every time he spoke he made me tear up a little.

This is such a great community and I feel lucky to be a part of it ❤️

I've started to notice the phenomena of some of the specific ways that "FAANG" companies exploit the existing trauma of the people they employ, having recently had a conversation with a friend where examples from a couple of those companies were mentioned

Yes, capitalism does this to everyone who needs to work, but there's a specific flavor of it that happens in "prestigious big tech companies"

And I can't help but both be extremely curious about the functioning of a system and feel angry about systems that harm people
