when we say that "rest is revolutionary," what we mean is that a community of people given to setting themselves on fire to keep each other warm will eventually become a community of people too burnt out to help each other.

this goes doubly so for my fellow chronically ill, disabled, and mentally ill people, because we tend to need quite a bit more rest than the abled/sane members of our communities.

I don't care what anyone says... I like this new Preview icon. Do I prefer the last one in that the loupe would stick out of the icon? Yes. But this one reminds me so much of the freeform Toolbar icons we had back in Apple apps around 2008-2010. They looked so cute and cartoony. :)

Mathesis: Towards Formal Theorem Proving from Natural Languages

Recent advances in large language models show strong promise for formal reasoning. However, most LLM-based theorem provers have long been constrained by the need for expert-written formal statements as inputs, limiting their applicability to real-world problems expressed in natural language. We tackle this gap with Mathesis, the first end-to-end theorem proving pipeline processing informal problem statements. It contributes Mathesis-Autoformalizer, the first autoformalizer using reinforcement learning to enhance the formalization ability of natural language problems, aided by our novel LeanScorer framework for nuanced formalization quality assessment. It also proposes a Mathesis-Prover, which generates formal proofs from the formalized statements. To evaluate the real-world applicability of end-to-end formal theorem proving, we introduce Gaokao-Formal, a benchmark of 488 complex problems from China's national college entrance exam. Our approach is carefully designed, with a thorough study of each component. Experiments demonstrate Mathesis's effectiveness, with the autoformalizer outperforming the best baseline by 22% in pass-rate on Gaokao-Formal. The full system surpasses other model combinations, achieving 64% accuracy on MiniF2F with pass@32 and a state-of-the-art 18% on Gaokao-Formal.

Raspberry Pi

I recently purchased an active-cooling aluminum heatsink + copper pipe + fan for the Raspberry Pi 5 — the GeeekPi ICE Tower Plus for Raspberry Pi 5

I was only planning to order one to try it out first. And, compare it again purely passive-cooling systems for the Raspberry Pi.

2 were delivered, rather than just 1. I looked at my order — apparently, I ordered 2 of them.

Oh, well.

I am curious how often the fans turns on in practice, and how loud it is.

Hört denn außer mir niemand in seit letzter Woche Montag diesen beständigen der seitdem 24/7 durch jede Wand in jedem Raum zu vibrieren scheint?

Ich habe meine Kollegen gefragt und das Brummen scheint messbar nicht nur in sondern auch in und und möglicherweise anderen Stadtteilen zu bestehen.

Das schwankt irgendwo zwischen 16 und 19 Herz, aber die Gebäude schwingen offenbar mit ihrer eigenen Frequenz mit, die dann überall und nirgends zu liegen scheint, bei mir z.B. bei 43 Hertz.

Ich gehöre leider zu den wenigen Menschen die über ein außergewöhnlich sensibles Gehör verfügen und wohne zudem in einer Wohnung in der sich das Geräusch ausgerechnet in meinem Wohn- und Schlafzimmer zu verstärken scheint.

Dabei kommen bei ansonsten absoluter Stille Werte von 55 dB (112 dBSPL - 57 dBFS) zusammen, als ob sich pausenlos 3 Leute neben mir unterhalten während ich versuche zu schlafen.

Es geht langsam an die Substanz aber ich finde keine anderen Betroffenen.

Spectogramm mit Frequenz Spitzen bei 16 und 43 Hertz bei jeweils ca. -57 bis - 60 dBFS was je nach Telefon 55 bis 52 dB Schalldruck entspricht.
