Legal Question: If I have an activity pub instance, and someone on a mastodon instance operating under the new terms of service follows an account on that instance - to what extent does my instance become a "user" of the mastodon instance.
- Arguably user profile info is out of scope, as such content is explicitly requested by the mastodon instance.
However, a "Create" request is submission of content, it is generally posted *to* a server, for the purposes of mirroring content on that server.

It's probably my first #opensource project 👨💻 , it's still in the Ports Collection 📦 and runs fine, but it hasn't been updated in years.
Maybe it's finally time to brush up on #C++ and give sysctlview a proper rewrite.
The original version uses #gtkmm (#GTK for C++), but a few years ago I ran a poll and most people preferred #qt
So maybe a QTsysctlview is on the horizon? 👀

Would you like a visual representation of the "Mastodon Hug of Death"? AKA your site immediately going offline when you post a link on Mastodon... because thousands of servers are trying to fetch the preview image?
I have talked about it in the past and I feel like several people didn't believe me.
I experienced it twice with my self-hosted Ghost blog, before I had Varnish cache protecting it.
Well well well, a few minutes ago I experienced the Hug of Death (also known as the "Mastodon stampede") after posting a link to my Wordpress site. I had made a landing page for my Fedi promo video where you can download shorter clips and stills.
A few SECONDS after posting a toot with the link on Mastodon my Wordpress site went offline.
I immediately deleted the toot and went to check out the dashboard of my web hosting site, so I could clear the cache.
This is the image I saw - I GASPED OUT LOUD: nearly 4000 requests in seconds. That's how you DDOS yourself 🤪
I just re-posted the toot by adding an image from my computer so that thousands of servers wouldn't try to get the cover image from the post itself (media from a toot overwrite cover images from blog posts)
Just a regular Tuesday afternoon 20 minutes before I need to go get my child from pre-school 😅

The license repeatedly refers to "you" and explains why the license refers to "you" ("Your continued use of the Instance after any change means you agree to the new Terms.") and I am not a lawyer but it sounds very contrived to me to suggest you, on a different instance, are engaging in "use of the Instance".

My Vercel contract is almost coming to an end, but I'm extremely happy that we managed to get to about 75% success rate for `noFloatingPromises` in our v2 release: https://biomejs.dev/blog/biome-v2/
The success rate is even slightly higher already in the `next` branch, and I still have 2 weeks to go. And just to highlight: This is merely the start.

지금 애플티비는 돌비 애트모스를 지원하지만 손실압축(Dolby Digital Plus)된 돌비 애트모스만 재생이 가능한데, 대부분의 블루레이 립은 무손실 압축(Dolby TrueHD)된 돌비 애트모스를 사용하다보니 애플티비에서는 5.1로밖에 재생이 안 되었어요. 패스스루를 사용하면 오디오 신호를 TV나 사운드바, AV리시버로 그대로 전달해주니까 저장해둔 블루레이를 드디어 애트모스로 감상할 수 있을듯?!
