I'd like to believe that there's a path to minimalism-of-complexity in computing that doesn't reject the complexity of the human experience.

I'd like to believe that there's a path to minimalism-of-resource-consumption and minimalism-of-dependency that doesn't demand the rejection or diminishment of others'.

But god damn there is some sort of greasy pipeline in open source that funnels young men directly from "I choose not to find value in this usecase" to "I do not find value in this person."

Stereo is acting up this morning. Nothing out of the left channel. Muscled the speaker away from the wall and checked the connections, no problem.

Then (what should have been before that), I swapped the channels on the source, and sure enough the problem moved to the other speaker. Checked all the connections all the way back to the USB plug into my laptop, and all of the balance settings. Nothing.

Open up YouTube. Sounds fine. Switch my audio player to my desk speakers. Sounds fine.

The left channel from one app is not going out to this one device, but works ok with other devices, and with that app on other outputs.

I'm baffled.

Good news, the Tuscolo CT logs are now "Qualified" (meaning that some of your certs are/will soon be using our CT log!!)

The bad news is that by including our new logs in the well known list of CT logs, some stuff now instantly crashes (seemingly because the array of non "Sunlight" (aka next gen) logs is empty).

Impacted things seem to include:

1. 80% of the food delivery app market in Brazil
2. Lots of banks in India
3. Lowes????
4. Basically any app that uses appmattus/certificatetransparency

Suboptimal.

reasons I've gotten online in the last couple days that I'm not allowed to express scientific opinions:

- I don't have a faculty job at an R1. True! Last time I was at an R1 I was stalked by a vicious person for two years so that had something to do with why I left academia.

- I'm too academic! (lol) academics distract everyone with our "insistence on facts"

- I am promoting a book! True! lol. I guess this one means if you publish you are untrustworthy

- I HAVEN'T published enough! Lol

What's the difference between a nation and a country? I always wondered. Why is it the United Nations, but not the United Countries? Turns out the difference is subtle but relevant. Nation is defined by a common culture. Country is defined by geographical border. Using that, I believe we should strive to be citizens of one Nation. The World :) A cultural unity, based on human rights, that focuses on making our world a better place. Through unity, not separation.
