Israel’s objective is ‘to destroy Gaza City and make it unliveable’

“About 70 percent of the Strip was already destroyed by Israel systematically, not by accident.”

“Even after the fighting, Israel destroys systematically the infrastructure.”

Having devastated Gaza, Israel’s aim was to then “move the population to a concentration zone and then offer them a better life outside Gaza Strip to push them outside.”

UN warns no supplies for northern Gaza after Israel closes crossing

Hundreds of thousands of people are sheltering in the city and refuse to follow Israel’s orders to move because of the dangers from Israeli attacks along the way, dire conditions, a lack of food in the southern area and fear of permanent displacement. Exhausted and hungry, many thousands have already been displaced multiple times throughout Israel’s assault.

After two weeks of writing, revising, and trying to make everything as digestible as possible, I finally published "GNOME Calendar: A New Era of Accessibility Achieved in 90 Days", where I explain in detail the steps we took to turn GNOME Calendar from an app that was literally unusable with a keyboard and screen reader to an app that is (finally) accessible to keyboard and screen reader users as of GNOME 49!

tesk.page/2025/07/25/gnome-cal

At last, all the accessibility improvements on GNOME Calendar are finally available as a stable release. Get it on Flathub while it's hot!!!

Breaking my social media silence to look for a -to-English who would be interested in a rather famous featuring transgender characters. I will help, but N1 or an equivalent level in is a must. Writing experience is a big plus. Preference will be given to , , or translators. Please send me a private message if you are interested or have questions.

Questions:

- What if we added something to HTTP where if you're only fetching a page to read OpenGraph tags, you send a special header saying "I only want the OpenGraph data", and the server then has the option of sending only the <meta> tags and nothing else?

- Could this help with the Mastodon "hug of death" (because the server can generate a simpler version of the page, caches can behave differently etc) where many instances rush to generate preview cards driving the previewed site offline?

@mcc This is an interesting idea. I wonder if doing this with an Accept: header in the request would be a good way to do it and fall back to the HTML otherwise? No need to add anything to the protocol itself then, and content type negotiation is already quite broadly implemented

The Song Dynasty of China: can you believe that those Khitan to the north also call their chieftan "emperor"? Ridiculous. Rural hicks. There can only be one emperor in the world, and it's definitionally here in China.

The Liao Dynasty of Khitan: We love China! Our southern brothers, you are so cool! Can you believe how awesome it is that we're both emperors?! 🤗 also if you invade, we will send a girl to beat you and she'll win.

Everything is stressful and everything sucks but the world is vast, with much space for hope in it.

For example, my beloved nephew is safe in his new home and crowdfunding for gender-confirming care, if you had a bit of spare cash and wanted to chip in ❤️

Hey security vendors: Maybe try not calling threat actors "low skilled" or "script kiddies" just because a particular attack or exploit was not "sophisticated." You may have observed them hitting low hanging fruit in this instance but when they inevitably pants your customers and you suddenly start calling them "sophisticated" I'm going to call you out, especially in sales and support calls.

I had a weird situation where I had a root shell on a remote Linux server that was experiencing a file system issue. No userspace commands were working except my shell builtins (echo, cd, and so on). I decided to reboot, but the "reboot" command, "init 6", "systemctl reboot", and "shutdown" commands wouldn't work. I couldn't visit the system in person and there was no remote power option.

Just a reminder that when all else is lost you can hard reboot a Linux system remotely via /proc/sys (assuming you happen to have a root shell on the machine):

echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger

This is a hard reboot. There's no file system sync, your databases go down hard, and this can really ruin your day. But just remember this little trick if you get painted into a corner.

That checks out. Teams and other Microsoft solutions are indeed hot garbage 😜 If only there was a better way…

(Seriously, video conferencing has been solved for 15 years, as have most other remote collaboration tools. I’ve been collaborating with people all over the world for almost my entire life).
