Breaking | Ghada Rabah has been confirmed killed

Following the murdering of little Hind Rajab, the horror repeated itself just a few meters away from the site of the first massacre.

This time, the victims were teacher Ghada Rabah and her brother Hussam, after Ghada spent two full days calling for help before a civil defense team was finally able to reach her.

Israeli occupation forces struck the house again, reducing the entire building to rubble.

One civil defense member said: “We arrived under the cover of darkness, we called out and shouted, but there was no response, destruction was everywhere, the building was nothing but debris.”

I like your name...

I like your name inside my mouth.
I like its taste, the way it lies

on the warm softness of my tongue;
the gentle touch of upcurled tip
upon my teeth, I like its hum,
echoed in chambers of my mouth,
the onset hush, the lazy sigh,

the decarnation of it all

in a hidden smile.

I like your name inside my mouth.
I like to steal it from its flight

I like to steal it from its flight

and keep it caged within the prison
of my cheeks. Let it revolt,

let it rebel inside its cell,

for I refuse to let the world

spoil what is mine.

And what is mine is knowing that

T keep your name inside my mouth
untouched by world, unspoiled by time.

Robotics companies are banking on thousands of people buying their humanoid robots. But can reality measure up to the hype? Right now, humanoid robots are bulky, require frequent charging, and have high safety standards to meet.

PALESTINE…

i know it's passé to pick on react, i'm still not sure how i feel about it

in theory a virtual dom gives a canonical place for state, and immediate rendering via reconciliation means no classical state sync errors

but in practice, as dom elements are routinely created and disposed of, there's a whole new class of state sync issues where items lose state that isn't carried in the virtual dom

on the other hand, mutating dom even with data flow/binding, can be a complete pain in the ass

Wow, I just put together a list of what we look for in talks for the WeAreDevelopers World Congress and other events and CoPilot went full on "speak English or bugger off". If you are not a native English speaker, please come and do your best. We all make mistakes!

Copilot proposing "- If you are not a native English speaker, consider teaming up with someone who is - we want to understand you" as a great thing to tell speakers.

WRT the Ruby takeover, I've seen several posts calling for Ruby to learn from Python about how to structure governance to prevent fascist takeover of infrastructure. Which, yes, I agree.

But also, I would encourage the Python side to not get complacent. A fascist takeover is a thousand percent still possible, it just looks different, like the slow adoption and validation of AI.

now that my Big Project™ for the year has shipped and is wrapping up, i will be enjoying some relative down time at work, in which i’d like to spend time topping up my waning modern web dev knowledge.

💡i am looking for recommendations on good online courses to bridge my knowledge gap in latest (not trendiest) CSS and JS practices. i have a few already queued up, but this will help me prioritize.

boosts are most welcome. thank you in advance!

@wjmaggoswilliam.maggos

You can search PeerTube at sepiasearch.org and instance owners can optionally connect this to their instance, or make their own engine as it's FOSS.

You can browse OwnCast streams at owncast.directory

I've tried to do my own site at fedi.video which lets people search hand-curated accounts, to provide a safer alternative to sepiasearch.org.

Today is National Punctuation Day! So let’s talk about the interrobang. “What the heck is that‽” you ask/exclaim?

In 1962, advertising agency director Martin K. Speckter had seen one too many sentences ending with ?!. So he suggested that we generate a new punctuation character called “interrobang.” He wrote up his recommendation for the publication TYPEtalks.

Graphical text that reads “interrobang: indicates a question asked in an exclamatory manner. ? + ! = ‽. What the hee-haw‽”

2nd day in a row that Maps app froze mid directions for > 10 minutes. I’ve never seen previous OS versions do that. Both times plenty of signal + downloaded maps. I bitch about bugs all the time but Maps is one app that really should never break.

This is a very good article, with truth that needs to be broadcasted, and image that are so excellent. My preferred one is :

if you’ve just been picking up software you found lying around the place, [...] what you actually have is a parasocial relationship with free software

And some others:

There is no supply chain here because there is no supplier. Someone created the software artifact once upon a time, yes, but it was not supplied to you. It was made available to the world at large. You happened across this software that already existed and decided to use it, of your own free will.

And also:

Take your time and enjoy your hobby more, since that is what unpaid software maintenance is. Collaborate with other people only so much as it brings you joy.

And I think I will end up quoting the whole article, so just go read it, thank you so much @daedalusJP !
