안드로이드의 날짜 선택기에서 한참 전 과거의 날짜를 선택하면, 실제로는 다른 날짜가 설정된다는 사실을 아시나요?

사실 새벽에 이미 적었던 건데 역법 이름을 헷갈렸는지 와리가리하길래 이참에 다시 씀…

예로, 날짜 선택기에서 1518년 3월 10일을 고르면 3월 20일로 설정됩니다. 132년 8월 7일을 고르면 8월 6일이 설정되죠. 대체 왜 이러는 걸까요?

답은 1582년 10월 5일~14일에 있습니다. 세상에! 대체 그 열흘사이에 무슨 일이 있었길래?

아무 일도 없었습니다.

네, 아무 일도 없었어요. 태어난 사람도, 죽은 사람도 없었고 해도 뜨고 지지 않았어요. 맙소사, 온 우주가 멈추기라도 했던 건가요?

네… 그런 건 딱히 아니었구요. 1582년 10월 4일의 다음날은 10월 15일이었기 때문입니다.
이 사라진 열흘이 대체 무슨 관계일까요?

1582년 10월 4일까지 사용되던 역법은 율리우스력이었습니다. 1년 365일이되 4년마다 2월 29일을 추가하는, 윤년이 있는 역법이었습니다.

윤년을 추가한다… 다 좋은데 문제가 하나 있었죠. 윤년을 예외없이 세다 보니, 거의 100년마다(125년) 실 날짜와 달력상의 날짜가 하루씩 차이나게 되는 겁니다.

당시 교황이던 그레고리오13세는 이를 가만히 두고 볼 수가 없었습니다. 그래서 교황은 기존 역법에서 발생한 오차인 10일을 없애서 앞당겨버리는 초강수를 두게 됩니다. 그 결과가 10월 5일~14일의 실종인 것이죠.

물론 날짜만 지워놓은 건 아니고, "4년 단위로 윤년이며, 100년 단위로는 평년이되, 400년 단위로는 예외적으로 윤년"이라는 식으로 역법을 손보기도 했습니다. 이게 그레고리력이며, 현재 널리 사용되는 역법입니다.

그레고리력은 이 시기, 즉 1582년 10월 15일부터 적용되었으며 그 이전, 즉 1582년 10월 4일까지는 이미 지나가 버린 거 율리우스력인 그대로 내버려 둔 모양입니다.

즉 안드로이드 날짜 선택기에서 1582년 10월 4일까지의 달력은 율리우스력 달력인 것이며, 사용자가 율리우스력 달력에서 고른 율리우스력 날짜를 그레고리력 날짜로 자동으로 바꿔주는 것이라고 할 수 있겠습니다.

조선 말기의 화가 '애춘 신명연' (靄春 申命衍)은 17세에 알성무과에 급제한 뒤 군사와 관련한 무관의 관직을 지냈지만, 시·서·화에 재능이 뛰어났습니다.

ICE has "disappeared" at least 2/3s of the over 1,800 prisoners in their camp in Florida, using deliberately shitty recordkeeping to claim they don't know where the people they kidnapped are. Most have been transferred to other facilities or deported at random, some may still be there but with their records deleted so there's no way to keep track of them. ICE is erasing *real people* to dodge accountability for their crimes.

25/9/25 날씨 이것저것 21년 오늘, 처음으로 한국 코로나-19 감염자 수는 3천명을 넘어섰습니다. 그때만큼의 공포는 아니지만 코로나는 이제 꾸준히 유행하는 질병이 되었는데요. 질병청은 9월 23일 기준 집계된 9월 1주차 데이터까지 11주 연속 상승 추세를 기록하고 있으며, 조만간 추세선을 돌파하면 재유행이 공식적으로 선언될 가능성도 매우 커 보입니다. 특히 하수 분석 결과 등을 보면 바이러스가 계속 급증하는 추세를 보이고 있고, 거기다 추석 연휴까지 거치게 되면 다시 급격히 확산될 가능성이 매우 큽니다. 위험하죠.
