Indeed @AudreyBras. High-speed rail must be competitive and affordable. Experience in countries like Spain and Italy shows that greater competition leads to lower prices and more passengers. To achieve this, we will tackle infrastructural, commercial and technical barriers, including rolling stock availability and access to service facilities. By removing these obstacles, we aim to foster the development of new rail services and open the market to more companies.

Forget about trying to get your company to support something abstract like the PSF.

You use PyPI: you know, the place that pip installs from. Wouldn't it be bad if `pip install` stopped working? Support the organization that runs PyPI instead.

Surprise, it's the PSF! Support the PSF! Your company depends on . You want it to keep working and keep being good.

Support the PSF. python.org/psf/sponsors/

A number of people have asked what happens to your posts if you move your account to another Mastodon server.

If you follow all the steps in the transfer guide at fedi.tips/transferring-your-ma your old posts will stay visible on the old server, they will let people know you've moved and they will redirect people to your new account.

As far as I know this is the only account transfer guide that includes steps to make sure that your old posts redirect people. Other guides seem to skip this.

The most thought provoking article I have read this week:

A Norwegian bus company wants to know if their buses could be abused by China in the case of war.

So they drive two buses deep into a limestone mine to isolate them from the internet and forensically investigate how they work.

In the mine, investigators discover a Chinese kill switch which could destroy all Chinese buses.

In Denmark, that is 57 percent of the bus fleet.

The term "personal firewall" might for some conjure quaint memories of using stuff like Zone Alarm. But I suspect this term will be resurrected in the not-too-distant future to describe pricey wearable technology designed to project a stealth mode that can confuse ubiquitous AI-based security and surveillance systems.

Apple is finally targeting the budget market, developing a low cost Mac to compete directly with Chromebooks and entry level Windows PCs. This marks the first time the company is entering the lower end laptop space, aiming to capture customers who typically choose less expensive machines. Yay unix for everyone 👍 it will upgrade from the hell called Copilot for many if priced correctly.
