Valve isn’t perfect, but I think it’s worth pointing out how open their hardware is. You can boot to Linux or install whatever you want. If you want to use Steam you just have to pay them $100 for unlimited builds during development. It’s worth it just to avoid sending builds constantly!

One of the first things I learned when I started with Rust is to never use unwrap, the reasons to not handle the error variant is almost always lazyness.

Rust beginners usually have the tendency to avoid usage of clone() to save memory, but use a lot of unwrap() to save coding time.

I advocate for the opposite, use a lot of clone() when you don't want to deal with lifetimes, but never ever use unwrap.

I use clippy on pedantic mode with auto fix and it is annoying but in a good way.

https://news.yahoo.co.jp/pickup/6559529

The 10 years of "temporary border controls" which have been renewed by Sweden every six months towards Denmark since the start to obstruct refugees in 2015 does, according to a new report from the "Greater Copenhagen" organization (greatercph.com/en) wherein 85 municipalities and four regions (=counties) cooperate across the Öresund/Øresund strait where the Sweden/Denmark-border is, in pure economic terms cost 510000 hours per year stuck on the train for work-commuters, 47 million crowns in socio-economic losses per year, while they say that according to the police only 0.03% of those controlled in the area lacked valid ID, and furthermore is "possibly" (diplomatic language) in violation of the EU's rules as border controls are only allowed to be imposed and extended within the EU's Schengen-area at "urgent imminent crisis".

Pictures of those border control, from their website and from the TT news agency's article:

Circa 1993, Vernor Vinge wrote that the first working AI would be the last thing that humanity ever invented.

We don't *have* a first working AI, and at this rate—shifting the global economy to run atop spicy autocomplete trained on 4chan—we never will.

But Vernor was right. Just forget "working".

30-Second Wine by Gerard Basset & Annette Alvarez-Peters, 2015

The 50 Essential Elements, Each Explained in Half a Minute

Compiled by wine experts, not elites, this beginners guide serves up all you need to read the message in the bottle in 50 small sips or rather, a mere 300 words and one picture. Heres how to enjoy wine without the waffle, all the way from Appellations of the old world to Zinfandel of the new.

Surrounded by mystique, the world of wine can be intimidating for the novice. What’s the difference between bouquet and nose? Is Rioja a wine or a region? What’s an appellation? And are you prepared to ask any of those questions at a dinner party, and risk being thought ignorant by other wine-loving guests?

30-Second Wine demystifies the subject, decanting the knowledge you need in palatable sips. Compiled by wine experts, it’s organized in a sequence of well-thought-out chapters, taking you from terroir to the technicalities of winemaking, introducing you to the important grapes and iconic regions, offering an overview of the business of wine and how it works, and concluding with a section on the enjoyment of wine. And with every entry edited into a neat and effective 300 words, it will leave you plenty of time to put your new-found expertise into practice.

We’re grateful for the years of support from the Python Software Foundation, whose sponsorship of our Opportunity Grants has helped make DjangoCon US accessible to so many in our community.

As the PSF faces some tough financial decisions, they may not be able to fund as much next year, so we’re turning to our community for help to ensure these vital grants continue.

This (Dec 2), please donate at to keep grants—and our community—open to all!

Yep:

[Edit: Actually, a couple of notes:

The title is a little off - they start off saying burn it all down, but then they go into nostalgia for the early internet.

I've taken it to mean they want to see the end of these oligarchal (is that a word?) internet powerhouses, and go back to something more human.]
