Somewhat overlooked in the Epstein emails are his communications with Larry Summers, former president of Harvard and still faculty there, about how to sleep with a woman that he was mentoring. They called her “peril” as in yellow peril because she’s Chinese. He writes that he commented on her clothes and asked her out to drinks but she declined. He writes: “She must be very confused or maybe wants to cut me off but wants professional connection a lot and so holds to it,” SO HE KNEW HIS BEHAVIOR WAS INAPPROPRIATE AND KEPT DOING IT ANYWAY. This is just all so typical of academia. Also these emails were exchanged in 2019 in case you were thinking that this was just behavior of the past.

Yeah, that was in mid-March 2024. In February I wrote about how it had been almost a year since Mozilla said it was going to kick Onerep to the curb and stop offering it as part of their Mozilla Monitor Plus service.

Well today Mozilla announced that it is finally "winding down" its partnership with Onerep by winding down Monitor Plus.
"After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to discontinue Monitor Plus, which offered data broker site scans and automated personal data removal."
"We will continue to offer our free Monitor, data breach service, which is integrated into Firefox’s credential manager, and we are focused on integrating more of our privacy and security experiences in Firefox, including our VPN, for free."
"We explored several options to keep Monitor Plus going, but our high standards for vendors, and the realities of the data broker ecosystem made it challenging to consistently deliver the level of value and reliability we expect for our users."
"Current subscribers will retain full access through the wind-down period."

@adelgadoAntonio J. Delgado On Linux, it's ZFS or ext4 all the way for me. ZFS for its data integrity guarantees, and ext4 because it's the tried-and-true workhorse file system which just keeps trugging along. You don't get all the fancy features (I *love* ZFS snapshots), but you know what you get and it isn't random corruption just because the system lost power or whatever.
Oh, and for Linux ext4, I suggest setting data=journal if you don't have reason to leave it at the default data=ordered. This is a per-file-system, maybe per-mount, setting. https://michael.kjorling.se/blog/2024/ext4-defaulting-to-data-ordered/
