What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

This is how you do it people. I feel like I could have written this article, as it is extremely detailed as to all of the valid reasons why they would want to ban such content from being associated with Nature.

Every journalistic & creative outlet you follow should be publishing something like thisโ€ฆand if not, demand it.

RE: wandering.shop/@aesthr/1156150

Imagine letting your whole worldview, how you learn about anything, get filtered through a silent corporate-brand-sanitization machine.

Banning books seems adorably quaint by comparison. Your brain would end up as polished and smooth as the inside of a urinal.

The sticker sheets are back in stock today! And the first 321 orders have been dispatched, with the rest coming soon. Only about 400 plushies left between the two colors. The winter mug is the closest to being sold out at only 18 units left. Thank you!

"As doubts about AI creep in, Iโ€™m hearing growing chatter to the effect that the Fed can and should save the industry. But the lesson from the last big tech bubble is that it canโ€™t. In fact, I have doubts about whether the Fed can head off a broader recession if the tech boom collapses โ€” but thatโ€™s a topic for a future post."

Random memory: Loren Brichter once nonchalantly told me โ€œoh, it can just be put together with the partsโ€ about a UITabBar-based UI he built in Tweetie 2 after I had the chance to ask (it seemed so novel to me at the time ha!)

That changed my world. It helped me look at constructing UIs in a completely different way that made anything possible. Hell, that was one of two foundational things someone has said to me thatโ€™s made me a great programmer today. And I doubt he even remembers! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well, it has happened. Ghostty on macOS now has search. This is now in tip releases, I'm certain there's a bunch of polish and bugs to work through over the next months, but more than enough time for it to be rock solid for 1.3 next year. GTK to follow soon. Gobble, gobble. ๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿฆƒ

Serious question! Our apartment complex's pool is heated, but it's still pretty cold when you get out of the pool. I was contemplating buying bathrobes with the hope that we'd use the pool more, but Kev says that might make us look like swingers. Is that true?

Site in Kenya reveals 300,000 years of uninterrupted toolmaking. Archaeologists uncovered nearly 1,300 stone tools spanning 2.44 to 2.75 million years, showing that early hominins taught and replicated the same techniques across roughly 10,000 generations. During this time period, the surrounding landscape shifted from lush, humid forests to arid desert shrubland and back again - and the hominins survived in part because of their toolmaking traditions. 404media.co/advanced-2-5-milli

It comforts me to know whether you're a 1-2 person scrappy small startup or literally the world's most valuable company, your user guides will cover only the basics and when end users test your hardware, they'll have the same reaction:

_Why do the marketing numbers lie?_

(Except the better scrappy startups don't have a marketing budget, so their numbers don't lie, they just don't exist yet ;)
