Soo , welcome to the reality show.

This is what happens every time it rains for the past three years. I'm tired of talking, pleading, and suffering. Nothing has changed in three years.
But this time we can make a difference, even if it's just a little! By participating and donating to the winter pajama campaign, we can keep these children warm.

I hope this stirs your conscience a little 💔‼️

Watt from Platformatic sounds interesting for improving Node.js server performance: blog.platformatic.dev/93-faste

It's kinda like pm2 but using SO_REUSEPORT, so the kernel handles the load balancing and forwarding of requests to each node.js process.

Sadly, we are closing down our newsletter and this account. We have been operating at a loss for too long: The number of advertisers and subscribers has been slowly but steadily decreasing over the last two years (vs. constant growth before that).

Axel may continue newsletter and/or account in some shape or form next year. If he does, he’ll post something here.

Genuinely love that after decades of VC funded companies trying to sell magic supply chain security solutions including a whole swath of AI nonsense and we have finally found a simple and effective tool called "waiting a week or two".

Muting and blocking are really important tools on Mastodon. They let you choose what you see and who you interact with.

To mute or block someone, go to one of their posts or their profile page and click ⋯, then select "Mute" or "Block".

Mutes hide someone from you without them knowing, whereas blocks totally cut off contact with an account and prevent interactions.

I've done a guide all about mutes and blocks on Mastodon which answers lots of questions:

What I'm listening to today: "mode 4", StereoMan

Light, airy "intelligent jungle" from 1997, in sample-based Impulse Tracker. There's a whole hidden history behind this inaccessible to me, this musician broke out of a modscene group called N.O.I.S.E. to become Bulgaria's most successful electronic musician, this is from a collection of "mode" tracks (1 through 5) that may or may not have been released under the name "j0r0". All I know is this has irrepressible energy

What I'm listening to today: "the 3rd experience", Merr0w

Behold the unbelievable versatility of the Roland TB-303, released in 1981 as a bass accompaniment device for guitarists, failed rapidly as it doesn't actually work for this, postmortem birthed multiple genres of music and decades later there's a whole micro-industry of clone devices and folks are still creating fun unique-feeling music with them. Here's some acid trance (is this "goa"?). This is the sound. This

Casual suicide mention, Linux discourse

RE: mastodon.social/@glyph/1156154

This! Apple already went through this when they finally caved on allowing anti-virus software in the app store

I was talking with an elderly neighbor about their options with the windows 10 end of life, and Linux came up.
Their hold-outs for a swap were lack of AV software, and old camera software.
Both of those make sense for them! They're not super tech literate, so viruses are a real concern. Treating it as a non-issue is holding the ecosystem back
