AI, mental health, awful

"Meet the group helping break people out of AI delusions," another one of those headlines like "Girl scout troop raises thirty grand for cancer treatment" in the horror-disguised-as-hope genre

It really does say something about the civil areospace industry that it will happily slime millions of people over a ultra rare software bug that is triggered by a celestial event.

Meanwhile, occasionally cars just have a woopsie in their ECU and people end up accelerating straight into a concrete wall and this is seemingly just accepted (by the manufacturers of course) as a okay-ish thing to do as long as it doesn't happen too much

markdown is exactly the kind of minimalism i hate, it is more restrictive than simplifying. actually i am fine with markdown so long as it is not parsed by a markdown parser -- it makes a lot more sense as a *microsyntax* and not an actual markup language. you can encode some limited semantics with it (things like emphasis), but you cannot encode any significant structure except what might be inferred implicitly by e.g. heading levels. i would not want to author everything in markdown.

I have a design issue I can't quite settle on, mostly because it doesn't massively matter, but I would like to figure it out properly. So I'm going to run a couple of polls here to find out how people feel about it.

Namely, when displaying notifications, both the Mastodon web interface and Toot! have two different styles they use: Either a full post like on a normal timeline, or a sort of compact version shown embedded in the notification message.

The two are shown below:

It’s closing in on 10 years since I bought my first @b0rkJulia Evans ‘zine.

I’ve learned so much from her work, but also from how Julia learns. And I’ve purchased many of these for my teams at work, which has paid dividends forward.

Anyway, you should totally buy multiple of these ‘zines because they’re untouchably great!

Edit: nobody was gonna tell me I misspelled like 3 words? 😂
