What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Obscure game question for you: have you ever played a PC game called "Watchy"? Even better, do you have a copy? It was sold in boxes that look like this.

The reason I'm wondering is because every online game catalogue tells you "Watchy" is an alternate title for another game by the same company. But I don't... think that's true, based on the boxes and the company website. I just don't have a copy of a game or demo to prove it.

Edit: Mystery solved! Check the replies.

On my way back from the high school reunion. Not sure if I ever shared this story here (probably on Twitter), but when I was 16 I sent a photocopied letter to a bunch of people (~25 kids, 1 teacher) to tell them I was (am) gay. Well… today I talked to that teacher briefly in passing. I said “Ananja, you were my favourite teacher!”, not expecting her to remember me at all. But she saw my name and immediately said: “oh, Anneke, I still have that letter from you at home” 🥹😭 that feels good :)

Got desperately stuck at the absolute final section of a level in a game, and happened to notice on Backloggd that the only review is someone else saying they couldn't make the final jump either. I actually think this might be bugged...? Not sure this game is *beatable*.

To display the compression ratio for the ZFS dataset /var/log on the pool
mypool, run the following command:

zfs get refcompressratio mypool/var/log

The refcompressratio will only display the compression ratio for that specific
dataset, not the descendant datasets. To include the child datasets, the
command looks like this:

zfs get compressratio mypool/var
