I'm building a cross platform GUI app store for nixpkgs😁 which will work across nixos, other linux distros, Mac etc

I want to organize the project well and a PR too like a mastodon account, discord or something, where everyone will discuss, suggest features etc. I also want suggestions on what FOSS license should I use etc.

If everyone was refusing to provide official IDs to verify their identity and age on social platforms, and just let their account rot there unused instead, we would soon see platforms themselves starting to advocate against these invasive laws to recover their users.

Just saying.

Important new paper using the staggered geographic rollout of LLM tools within Change.org to demonstrate that they didn't improve (and overall slightly harmed) outcomes, while making the petitions themselves more homogeneous in language use. This has now been documented in other studies as well, adding further weight to the claim that these tools have limited or negative value in the vast majority of applications arxiv.org/abs/2511.13949

Introducing AI to an Online Petition Platform Changed Outputs but not Outcomes

The rapid integration of AI writing tools into online platforms raises critical questions about their impact on content production and outcomes. We leverage a unique natural experiment on Change$.$org, a leading social advocacy platform, to causally investigate the effects of an in-platform ''write with AI'' tool. To understand the impact of the AI integration, we collected 1.5 million petitions and employed a difference-in-differences analysis. Our findings reveal that in-platform AI access significantly altered the lexical features of petitions and increased petition homogeneity, but did not improve petition outcomes. We confirmed the results in a separate analysis of repeat petition writers who wrote petitions before and after introduction of the AI tool. The results suggest that while AI writing tools can profoundly reshape online content, their practical utility for improving desired outcomes may be less beneficial than anticipated, and introduce unintended consequences like content homogenization.

こんにちは、やまこ @yamako@fedibird.com です。この記事は Fediverse Advent Calendar 2023 21日目の記事です。 今年は、Fediverse にハマりすぎて自分用のサーバ（=自鯖）を立ててしまった話をします。 Fediverse ってなに？ アドベントカレンダーの趣旨上、Fediverse とはなにか？のような話は不要かもしれませんが、検索など他の手段でたどりつかれた人のために説明しますと、ActivityPub に代表される共通の規約でつながりあう SNS 等のサーバ群 のことです。Mastodon とか Misskey と呼ばれるものが含まれています。特定の組織や企業の支配下にあるのではなく、規格にさえ沿っていればだれでもサーバを立てて参加することができる、オープンな性質をもっています。 Fediverse との出会い 私と Fediverse の出会いは Mastodon サーバのひとつである Pawoo からです。このサーバは Mastodon が日本でブームになった 2017 年代に建てられ、Twitter の知人たちといっしょに私も流れ着きました。当初は Twitter の裏アカウントのように利用するだけでしたが、2020 年に自作まんが「なかよし おねえさんたち」の 1 話を投稿したことがきっかけで、急速にのめりこむことになりました。 とはいえいきなりサーバを立てたりはしなかった いえ、正確に言うと、いちど立てていました。それは Twitter の知人たちをあつめて動かしていた小さな Mastodon サーバで、現在は閉鎖しています。そのころの私は Fediverse におけるサーバ同士のつながりというものをよく理解しておらず、やりとりはサーバの中だけで完結し、設定で連合もしないようにしていました。それが悪かったとは思いませんが、Mastodon の真の威力を感じられてはいなかったのはたしかです。 連合するおもしろさ まんがの公開をきっかけに、さまざまな人々とやりとりすることのおもしろさ、言い換えると「ここにも人がいる」ことに気づいた私は、Fediverse でのつながりを少しずつ広げていくことになりました。Pawoo から Fedibird へ引っ越したり、趣味のサーバなどにいろいろ登録してみたり、分散SNSを楽しんでいました。そうしてたくさんのサーバを楽しませてもらっているうちに、むくむくと頭をもたげてきたのが「ちゃんと連合するサーバを立ててみたい」という思いでした。 おひとり様ならいける しかし、不特定多数の人が登録するサーバを立てると、以下の問題が発生します。 登録ユーザがふえるとサーバが要求するスペックが高まり、ランニングコストがかかる どんな人が登録するかわからないため、通報への対応などの手間がかかる これらは、私には若干敷居が高く感じられました。そこで浮上してきた選択肢が「おひとり様サーバ」です。おひとり様サーバは自分以外のひとが登録することができないサーバです。分散SNSには連合機能があり、他のサーバのひとをフォローすることが可能なため、これでも問題ありません。おひとり様なら上記の2つの問題も解決します。 サーバ立てちゃいました そうして昨年末に立てたのが やまこのぼっち鯖 です。技術的な話は Mastodonお一人様サーバ構築メモ に書きましたので気になる向きはそちらをごらんください。今年末でそろそろ一年経ちますが、とくに大きなトラブルなどはなく快適に利用しています。 実際どうなんですか？ いいところ、わるいところ、それぞれあります。いいところはなんといっても自分のサーバですから落ち着く！ルールは自分！凍結もない！というところです。これは想像以上にそうです。アカウントも作り放題なので RSS feed を読ませて投稿するだけの自分専用 bot や、開発用アカウントなども簡単に作れます。 わるいところは、自分ひとりとはいえやっぱりお金はかかる、メンテナンスが手間、ローカルタイムラインは無い（あるけど自分しかいない）のでつながりは自ら探しに行かないと作れない、といったところです。メンテナンスについては Hostdon のようなホスティングサービスを使うことで解決できるでしょう。 で、いくらかかっているんですか？ みなさん気になるであろうランニングコストは、以下で約 1200円/月 といったところです。リレーサーバにつないだり検索を有効にしたりすると、サーバの増強が必要なのでもっとかかりそうです。

아소파 등 자민당 구우익의 노회함이 스며들 여지를 주지 않는 점, 무대의 종류(이번은 국제외교임)를 아랑곳않고 자극적인(튀는) 연출을 택하는 데에서 자국 지지층에의 '비춰짐'을 강하게 의식하는 의도가 비쳐보임. 사고 칠 위험이 커 보인다 쯤이 아니라 필시 사고를 치겠다 정도로 말을 고쳐도 무방할 것 같다.

다카이치의 위험인물로써의 수준 인식을 좀 고쳐야겠다. 원래부터 위험한 인물이긴 하지만, 이번 건은 그 포지션에서 내는 레토릭들이 대단히 숙려나 절제가 없고 즉흥/충동적임을 재확인시켜준다. 자기 딴에는 진짜로 신선하다고 좋다고 생각하며 추종자들이 자기 감각을 버리고 그걸 믿기 시작함. 이미 여러 동네에서 '위험한 리더'의 전형적 패턴으로써 답습된 코스. 이전 발언은 그래도 자국 국내 국회 답변에서의 건이었던 점 등을 고려해서 조금 보수적으로 읽었는데, 좀 더 '능동적으로 위험한' 부류로 올려읽어야 하겠다고 생각.

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about #PeerTube, #Loops, #Bandwagon, and other platforms in the #Fediverse that are geared around artists. I might get flamed for this, and you’re welcome to disagree, but I think the network is in dire need of having support for commerce.

Not “Big Capitalism” commerce, but the ability for people to buy and sell things, support projects, and commission their favorite creators to keep making more stuff.
