What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

„Is Pixelfed sawing off the branch that the Fediverse is sitting on?“

Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesn’t make any sense even.

When I use , I do that to see pictures only. That’s the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like .

@thoralfThoralf Will 🇺🇦🇮🇱🇹🇼 heh, this is the same argument that can often be read for Webmentions and the Indieweb. No, it is not required to show anything received - or even acknowledge it.

Many clients don't implement all features seen on the Fedi. Like direct messages. That stuff is also silently dropped. Others don't support CW. Or emoji reaction. This is fine.

I'm also happy that my timeline isn't swamped by default with Lemmy posts, Pixelfed galleries or PeerTube videos btw. It's nice that it *can*.

RE: loudpoet.com/2025/12/04/five-t

Among the changes I made to my site this week, I finally got ActivityPub working and you can now follow the blog itself here, too: @fedifeed

(Pretty sure Jetpack was the problem because a few other things are magically working since I removed it.)

Not sure what engagement looks like, but I think replies to its posts will become comments on my blog, too?

At the November 2025 TPAC, Philippe Le Hégaret, W3C VP Technical Strategy, presented "Navigating the Future - Technology Strategy Initiative Task Force" outlining W3C’s approach to navigating web evolution, evaluating new technologies, and prioritizing innovation. He emphasized early exploration through community groups, workshops, and interest groups, using principles like ethics and privacy to guide decisions.

For the rest of my life, I never again want to hear about some project being "too ambitious" or "too expensive."

If we can just *decide* to turn the world's entire production of computing components and minerals over to something as fundamentally worthless as "generative AI," then we can do the same thing for something meaningful. Like carbon neutrality.
